Ashfurs Second Chance- Chapter 1

Bramblestar lie still on the soft moss bedding in his den, the suns rays seeping into his den. He got up and gave a long stretch, he perked his ears to hear cats padding around. Squirrelflight must be organizing patrols.. He padded towards the exit of his den and jumped down from the stones to the cold, muddy ground. He went up to Squirrelflight and mewed, "Good morning, what patrols did you send out?" Squirrelflight meowed in response, "I sent out a hunting patrol, I'm just about to organize a border patrol, do you want to be apart of it?" Bramblestar nodded. Squirrelflight looked around and called "Cloudtail, I would like you to bring your apprentice Hollypaw and take her with you on a border patrol with Brambleclaw. You can go, can't you?" Cloudtail padded over to her and mewed, "Yes I can, let me ge-" cutting him off, his apprentice shot out from the Elders den and stood at his feet jumping up and down. "I heard a border patrol and my mentor joining it, I can come right?" Bramblestar purred in amusement as Cloudtail mewed, "I was just about to go get you, but it seems you're all ears then concern. Did you get everything done with the elders?" the black she-cat mewed, "Of course I did! I wouldn't just charge out of there without finishing what I was told to do." Cloudtail looked at Bramblestar then looked back down at his apprentice, "Well okay, if you're finished you can come. But we must wait until Squirrelflight's done with organizing this patrol." Squirrelflight looked around and meowed, "Stormcloud, I would like you to go on a border patrol with Bramblestar, Cloudtail and Hollypaw." Stormcloud mewed "Okay." He padded up to the three cats and looked at Squirrelflight, "We ready?" Squirrelflight looked at the group, then mewed, "Yes, you should be good." Hollypaw darted towards the bramble wall, Cloudtail hissed, "Hollypaw! Get back here!" Stormcloud looked back at Cloudtail with a hint of nervousness in his eyes. Bramblestar rolled his eyes with Cloudtail's impatience with his apprentice. 

Bramblestar and Stormcloud were the front of the patrol while Cloudtail was showing and explaining what they should do on border patrols. They reached the territories edge and Stormcloud set the first scent marker to strengthen the scent. Cloudtail mewed to Hollypaw "We reset and check the borders every day, to make sure no loners, rouges, other clan cats or any other animal have entered our territory. If we do that, they will know they're entering some animals territory. In this case, Thunderclan's territory." Hollypaw nodded in understanding as Cloudtail continued, Bramblestar looked around. Checking for any movement beyond the trees and bushes. He heard faint mewls and flicked his tail softly against Cloudtail's muzzle for him to go silent. Stormcloud kept his voice low but mewed "What is it Bramblestar?" Bramblestar heard his question but didn't respond, he finally mewed, "It's close. Near our borders. Lets look for what might be making the sound." Hollypaw looked at Cloudtail, curious but concerned of what it might be. Bramblestar continued down the borders line, Stormcloud resetting the scent markers. The mewls got louder as Bramblestar smelled smoke. Bramblestar's fur pricked as he caught a glimpse of a fire, Bramblestar meowed, "There's a fire! Cloudtail, take Hollypaw back to camp and tell the clan there's a fire." Stormcloud stared in shock as the fire was so close, but looked at the sky. "There's storm clouds, do you think it will rain?" Bramblestar mewed "I hope it will, but come with me, that's where the mews grow stronger."
Stormcloud nodded as Bramblestar ran down the hill towards the distressed mews. They got to the burning trees, the fire was getting bigger and bigger by the second, Bramblestar heard the mews gotten stronger, he ran cautiously around looking for the kits as Stormcloud called, "Where are you?" Stormcloud caught a glimpse of white fur. He mewed, "Bramblestar, over here!" Bramblestar ran over to where Stormcloud was, Stormcloud took a hold of the white kits scruff. Bramblestar meowed "Get the kit back to the clan, I'll be right behind you." Stormcloud nodded and darted off. Behind Bramblestar, he heard a creaking of a tree falling. He gasped then darted out of the way, he started to run out of the burning forest until he heard another mew. He looked around and saw a gray kit stuck in thick brambles, he ran over there as fast as he could. He began to claw through the brambles, freeing the gray kit, he grabbed the kit by the scruff and ran through the burning forest. A fire grew in his path, blocking the exit. The fire was surrounding him, he got a better hold on the kit and jumped through the fire. He slipped on the other side of the fire and began running again, he noticed the storm clouds have gotten bigger and it began to rain. He gave a big sigh as he kept running and thought Thank Starclan...
